Daddy’s girl

I love being the daddy of a daddy’s girl.

The other night, as I worked on paperwork at the kitchen table, Mikki carried Mary in and said, “Daddy, will you dance with me?” Having watched the movie “Courageous” a couple weeks ago, I vowed never to turn down a dance with my daughter.

Mikki played “Marry Me” by Train on the iPad, and I stood Mary on my feet to start dancing. IT didn’t work too well as I was barefoot which gave a less than sturdy platform on which for her to stand. I got down on my knees and put my hands around Mary’s waist and back, and she leaned her head in my chest, actually swaying back and forth with the music as if she’d slow-danced a hundred times before.

It was a beautiful moment and I look forward to many more in this life.
