Adoption Awareness Month

November is National Adoption Month, a month set aside each year to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care.

There are so many children who long for permanent forever families.  The sad things are many of them will never know the constant presence of a family they can call their own.  So when they exit the state system they are on their own.  Can you imagine going off to college and then when everybody is going to visit their families for Thanksgiving and Christmas, you have nowhere to call home.  This is just heartbreaking to me.

This month, please pray in a special way for all those children and teens who long for a family to call their very own.  Maybe even pray about YOU being that home or encouraging others you know.

Our lives are not our own.  We are here to do God’s Will not ours.  God basically loaned us everything we have for us to use for His purposes.

Jesus ministered to those who were most hungry for love…the outcasts, the sinners.  I believe adoption is just one way to feed those who are hungry for love but there are so many ways EVERYBODY can fulfill others’ desires to be loved.

Mother Teresa once said,

“There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives – the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them. Love them.”

So from today on…share God’s love in whatever capacity He is calling!
